Our Staff

We have six people on staff:

  • Leslye McVicar (our Librarian);
  • Torie Laskey (Library Assistant);
  • Judith Williamson (Circulation Clerk);
  • Madaline Boutilier (Circulation Clerk);
  • Marilyn Howe (Circulation Clerk);
  • Jennifer Carson-Garnhurm  (Circulation Clerk).

Regardless of the position, public service is our top priority.

Leslye is in charge of the overall operations of the library; Torie is second in command and can offer service in both official languages; and Judith, Madaline, Jennifer and Marilyn look after requests, overdue books and donations. All staff take part in storytime.

If you have questions about the library - or even if you want to know what's a good book to read - just ask. Any of our staff would be delighted to help you.

Talking about books, how does the library decide what books to order?

It isn't as simple as it seems. All members of the staff look after requests and they know what type of books people want to read. They let Leslye know this information. You may think that Leslye will then order the books. But that isn't what happens. At this point, Leslye meets with other regional library representatives. As a group, they discuss which books each library should order. They do this so that we (the taxpayers) get more bang for our library dollars. And that makes both good sense and good cents!
