Our Staff
We have seven people on staff:
- Leslye McVicar (Library Director);
- Alex Rogers (Assistant to the Library Director)
- Torie Laskey (Library Assistant);
- Madaline Boutilier (Library Clerk);
- Kyle Graham (Library Clerk);
- Judith Williamson (Library Clerk);
- Marilyn Howe (Library Clerk);
- Jocelyne Cornier (Library Clerk)
Regardless of the position, public service is our top priority.
Leslye and Alex are in charge of the overall operations of the library; Torie is second in command and deals with all of our volunteers and students. Kyle, Judith, Madaline, Jocelyne and Marilyn look after requests, overdue books and donations. All of our staff take part in storytime and assist in preparations for other events! Torie, Madaline, Kyle and Jocelyne can offer service in both official languages after all, it is your choice!
If you have questions about the library - or even if you want to know what's a good book to read - just ask. Any of our staff would be more than happy to help you.
Talking about books... how does the library decide what books to order?
It isn't as simple as it seems. All members of the staff look after requests and they know what type of books people want to read. They let Leslye know this information. You may think that Leslye will then order the books. But that isn't what happens. At this point, Leslye meets with other regional library representatives. As a group, they discuss which books each library should order. They do this so that we (the taxpayers) get more bang for our library dollars. And that makes both good sense and good cents!
